Utility’s Tariff Reflects New Electric Supplier Credit Requirements
On July 1, 2026, PPL the electric utility filed an updated tariff in response to the Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission (PUC) Opinion and Order issued on June 11, 2026 approving the Joint Settlement Agreement filed on April 22, 2026.
As part of the joint settlement agreement upon the tariff’s effective date, electric generation suppliers (EGSs) operating in the PPL Electric Utilities service area in Pennsylvania must provide the utility with “fully completed credit history form” by January 1, 2028 to continue operating at PPL Electric. The supplier tariff does not include a pro forma credit history form that is to be used, nor does the tariff otherwise describe the information to be included in the credit history submission, and whether credit reports from specific history provider(s) will be required PPL’s existing EGS tariff had already included language stating as follows, which remains in place: “In addition to information required otherwise hereunder, an EGS shall be required to provide to the Company such credit information as the Company requires.”
Therefore, upon the tariffs effective date any new EGS’s must provide a credit history form as part of its registration process when it applies to enter the PPL Electric service area.
For all EGS currently operating in the PPL’s service area in Pennsylvania will need to supply the electric utility with a “credit history” to continue operating in PPL’s electric service territory beyond December 31, 2027.
Note that although this new credit history requirement was part of a previously reported settlement, the settlement itself did not include a copy of the supplier credit form nor the specific terms of the updated supplier coordination tariff terms and conditions.
