Danovo Energy Solutions Files Interconnection White Paper

Evaluates process for new distributed generators and energy storage systems

Danovo Energy Solutions filed a white paper on interconnection in the New York PSC proceeding to consider standardized interconnection requirements, the application process for new distributed generators, and energy storage systems 5 MW or less connected to the utility distribution systems.

Among other things this white paper recommends several near-term actions. First, charging assumptions in hosting capacity maps and CESIR studies should be updated to reflect longer charging windows.

The white paper also discusses whether charging should be allowed up to full N-1 and N-2 capability where block-charge controls already exist, with a requirement for compliance with Con Edison SCADA capabilities going forward.

Another topic of interest discussed in the white paper discusses whether interconnection queue transparency and milestone tracking should be improved to better align available capacity with viable projects.

The paper also discusses whether DERMS should be leveraged to actively schedule battery energy storage system charging over time, enabling more dynamic system operations.
