ALJ Issues an Order Adopting Amendments to EDUs Interconnection Standard Rules

On July 10, 2026 an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) from the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO)  issued an  entry ordering that the amendments to the rules in Ohio Adm.Code Chapter 4901:1-22 Electric Distribution Utilities (EDUs) interconnection standards adopted through this proceeding shall become effective on July 20, 2026.

“Pursuant to the rules adopted by the Commission, EDUs will be required to file their initial Technical Interconnection and Interoperability Requirements (TIIR) within 30 days of the rules becoming effective. When doing so, EDUs should utilize a new purpose code “TIR”. Further, if continuing the TIIR advisory group would be beneficial in attaining consistency amongst the TIIR filings and efficiency in the Commission’s review of those filings, the EDUs are encouraged to work with Staff to establish stakeholder meetings before and after the initial TIIR filings are made to facilitate those discussions.”
