Maine Energy Plan Workshops Scheduled

As background, Maine law requires biannual updates to the Maine Energy Plan (Plan) by the Department of Energy Resources (DOER). According to DOER, “The Plan is informed by in-depth technical analyses and robust stakeholder input, and offers objectives, strategies, and actions to ensure affordable, reliable, and increasingly clean energy for Maine people and businesses.”
DOER is currently developing the 2027 Plan, which it says “will address several priorities to ensure energy is”: (1) Affordable – including by addressing volatile energy costs due to “Maine’s overreliance on fossil fuels”; (2) Reliable; (3) Secure; and (4) Clean – working toward the goal, enshrined in state law, of 100% of electricity sold in the state coming from renewable and clean sources by 2040.
By law, the next Plan must be submitted to the Governor and legislature by January 15, 2027.
