PURA Grants Eversource’s Rate Adjustment

[ *** ] Eversource reports that the combined GSC and BFMCC rate for SS customers across all rate schedules will decrease from the current combined rate of 14.810 ¢/kWh on average for the first half of 2024 to 8.889 ¢/kWh on average in the second half of 2024.2 Id., pp. 2–3. The Company states that the average GSC rate for SS customers will decrease from the current rate of 14.960 ¢/kWh on average during the first half of 2024 to 9.009 ¢/kWh on average for the second half of 2024, and the current BFMCC rate will change from -0.150 ¢/kWh to -0.120 ¢/kWh.[ *** ]
Additionally, the Company reports that the combined GSC and BFMCC rate for LRS customers will increase from the current combined rate of 5.984 ¢/kWh on average for the second quarter of 2024 (Q2) to 7.268 ¢/kWh on average in the third quarter of 2024 (Q3). Motion No. 6, pp. 3, 5. The Company states that the average GSC rate for LRS customers during Q3 will be 7.388 ¢/kWh, and the current BFMCC will change from -0.150 ¢/kWh in Q2 to -0.120 ¢/kWh in Q3.

The Authority provisionally approves Eversource’s proposed adjustments to the Company’s GSC and BFMCC for SS rates effective July 1, 2024, through December 31, 2024, and for LRS rates effective July 1, 2024, through September 30, 2024, subject to further review and approval in the Company’s next applicable rate adjustment mechanisms (RAM) proceeding (e.g., Docket No. 25-01-03), pursuant to General Statutes § 16-19b(h). The Authority notes that the rate changes discussed herein address only the generation portion of customer bills, not the distribution portion regulated by the Authority.
