ALJ Issues Recommended Decision in Gas Utility’s Rate Case
On October 2, 2026 a Pennsylvania administrative law judge (ALJ) issued a recommended decision in Peoples Natural Gas rate case.
The Company proposed increasing rates to produce additional overall revenue of approximately $163.2 million annually, which is a 13.8% increase to the overall distribution revenue requirement. If approved, residential customer bills using 86 Mcf/year would increase from $122.20 to $138.23 per month (13.1%).
“Based upon the record evidence, I recommend an annual revenue increase in the amount of $105,396,889, or 8.90%. It is recommended that Peoples’ new rates become effective December 26, 2026. The additional requests of the Company, and my recommendations for each, are discussed in the recommended decision below. The suspension date is December 26, 2026. The last reasonable public meeting date prior to the suspension date is December 3, 2026.”
