Application For Electric Aggregator Certificate Denied

The Connecticut Public Utilities Authority (PURA) denied American Electric Rates LLC’s aggregation application  for the following reasons as stated in the proposed final decision: 

[ *** ] the record demonstrates that the Company represents suppliers rather than customers. The Company’s contracts with suppliers demonstrate that the Company is acting as an agent for suppliers and not as a representative of customers. [ *** ] 

[ *** ] the Authority finds that the Company is a suppliers’ agent rather than a customer’s representative. Therefore, the Company does not qualify as an electric aggregator. [ *** ] 

[ *** ] the Company has ongoing contracts and compensation arrangements with suppliers which indicate third-party agency relationships. Therefore, the Company does not meet the definition of an electric aggregator.
