BG&E Files Notice of Intent to Develop Pilot for Thermal Energy Network Systems

Pursuant to the Maryland Public Service Commission’s (the “Commission”) July 12, 2024, Order No. 91221, Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (“BGE” or the “Company”) files this Notice of Intent to develop a pilot for thermal energy network systems. Since the enactment of the Working for Accessible Renewable Maryland Thermal Heat (“WARMTH”) Act, BGE has established the East Coast Networked Geothermal Collaboration to learn from several utilities on the east coast that are in progress of deploying utility-scale network geothermal systems, conducted stakeholder and community outreach, and engaged an engineering firm to provide analysis to identify feasible neighborhoods for BGE’s network geothermal pilot.
