On March 7, 2024, in response to a proposed procedural schedule agreed to by the parties, Public Utility Law Judge Lawrence issued a Notice of Procedural Schedule in this matter with a tariff suspension period ending on December 20, 2024.Subsequently, on March 13, 2024, Chesapeake Utilities Corporation — Maryland Division (“Maryland Division”), Sandpiper Energy, Inc. (“Sandpiper”), and Elkton Gas Company (“Elkton”) (collectively, the “Companies”) submitted an Amended Joint Application for increases to their base rates for gas distribution service and for certain other changes to their natural gas tariffs. Pursuant to PUA §4-204, the Commission concludes that the proposed rates filed by the Companies in the Amended Application should be suspended for an additional period of not more than 180 days from June 23, 2024. The suspension period is necessary to provide the Commission with an opportunity to determine the justness and reasonableness of the proposals. [ *** ]
