Energy Storage Program Workgroup Directed to File Final Report by Month End
The Maryland Energy Storage Program Workgroup (MESP) working group must now file the Phase II final report with the Maryland PSC by July 31, 2026 that addresses an energy storage program design study recommendation and any other matter needing Maryland PSC direction.
Previously, on July 9, 2026 BGE, DPL, and Pepco (Exelon Utilities) filed a request asking the Maryland Commission to reconsider its May 9, 2026 denial of the Exelon Utilities’ “request for a regulatory asset to track incremental costs”
As background, the PSC opened this proceeding in response to legislation passed and signed into law earlier this year (HB910), which directed the MDPSC to establish “a Maryland Energy Storage Program that provides a competitive energy storage procurement program, with annual deployment targets for energy storage devices in Maryland.”
In this proceeding, the MDPSC established the Maryland Energy Storage Program Workgroup to facilitate the creation of the program.
