Utility Proposes Increased Default Service Rates

Residential tariffed price to compare electric rates at most FirstEnergy Pennsylvania service areas are increasing approximately 8%.  These rates, if approved by the Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission (PUC)  would become effective December 1, 2024 through May 31, 2025

Default rates by Utilities:

Met-Ed – the tariffed residential PTC Default rate will be $0.11011 per kWh effective December 1, 2024.

Met-Ed – the tariffed commercial PTC Default rate will be $0.11048 per kWh effective December 1, 2024.

Penelec –  the tariffed residential PTC Default rate will be $0.10474 per kWh effective December 1, 2024, which is more than a 7% increase versus the current $0.09744 per kWh

Penelec – the tariffed commercial PTC Default rate will be $0.10382 per kWh effective December 1, 2024.

Penn Power – the tariffed residential PTC Default rate will be $0.11168 per kWh effective December 1, 2024.

Penn Power – the tariffed commercial PTC Default rate will be $0.12098 per kWh effective December 1, 2024.

West Penn Power – the tariffed residential PTC Default rate will be $0.09481 per kWh effective December 1, 2024.

West Penn Power – the tariffed commercial PTC Default  rate will be $0.10013 per kWh effective December 1, 2024.

As a reminder these rates remain subject to PUC approval.
