IPA Seeks Feedback on Proposed 2025-2026 Self-Direct RPS Program Size
The IPA released its proposed Large Customer Self-direct Renewable Portfolio Standard Compliance Program (Self-direct Program) size for the 2025-2026 Program Year.
The Self-direct Program provides a means for large electric load Illinois customers (aggregated demand over 10 MW) served by ComEd or Ameren Illinois to retire Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) acquired through private long-term contracts with new utility-scale wind and/or solar facilities. Participants in the Self-direct Program receive an electric bill credit reducing Renewable Portfolio Standard-related bill charges. This process establishes the number of RECs available – the program size – for the forthcoming 2025-2026 Program Year.
The IPA seeks feedback on the proposed program size in accordance with the development process outlined in the 2024 Long-Term Plan. Responses are due Monday, January 27, and should be submitted to: IPA.ContactUs@Illinois.gov with the subject line: “[Responder’s Name] – Stakeholder Feedback on Self-direct Program Size.”
Comments received will aid in the final determination of the program size for the forthcoming 2025-2026 Program Year. Responses received will be published on the Self-direct page of the IPA website.
