PUC Issued Notice For Comment On Interconnection Standards
The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) opened this proceeding to review the regulations governing interconnection standards (found at Ohio Adm. Code Chapter 4901:1-22).

{***} “{¶ 3} On January 5, 2024, Staff filed a letter updating the Commission on the Workgroup’s progress in Case No. 18-884-EL-ORD. In the letter, Staff noted the status of ongoing discussions, which included, but was not limited to, addressing the possible adoption of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 1547-2018 standard 24-1039-EL-ORD -2 – and aligning the Commission’s rules with wholesale procedures for the implementation of a 2020 Federal Energy Regulatory Commission decision (FERC Order 2222). 172 FERC ¶ 61,247 (2020). The Workgroup requested that the Commission open a rulemaking proceeding to address the topics raised in the discussions.
{¶ 4} Pursuant to R.C. 111.15, the Commission has opened this docket at the request of the Workgroup to review the rules contained in Ohio Adm.Code Chapter 4901:1- 22, and to determine whether revisions are necessary to the Commission’s interconnection standards. Further, R.C. 111.15(B) and R.C. 106.03(A) require all state agencies to conduct a review of their rules every five years to determine whether those rules should be continued without change, be amended, or be rescinded.” {***}
