PURA Files Interim Decision In Investigation Into Medium And Heavy-Duty Electric Vehicle Charging

[ *** ] On April 2, 2025, The Connecticut Light and Power Company d/b/a Eversource Energy (Eversource) and The United Illuminating Company (UI; collectively, EDCs) submitted a motion (Motion No. 15) to the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (Authority) requesting a stay of the Connecticut Green Bank’s (CGB) requested six directives to support implementation of Fleet Advisory Services (FAS) for school bus electrification (EDC Directives), established in the Authority’s January 17, 2025 ruling on Motion No. 12 (Motion No. 12 Ruling), and for additional process relative to the EDC Directives. Motion No. 15, p. 1. The Authority granted the Companies’ request for additional process and declined to rule on the request to stay pending further discovery. Based upon the additional discovery, the Authority declines to stay the Authority’s requirement to comply with EDC Directives, which are activities consistent with the EDCs’ current system planning and interconnection functions. To provide clarity on specific grid planning activities required for school bus electrification or FAS, the Authority directs the EDCs to coordinate with CGB and to submit a joint proposal to identify the specific tasks required to ensure effective administration of the FAS Program and timely deployment of federal funding resources.
