PURA Issues Revised Notice Of Proceeding In Review Of And Report On Connecticut Public Service Company Emergency Response Plans

The Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA or the Authority) established this proceeding to review Connecticut public service companies’ emergency response plans (ERPs), pursuant to General Statutes § 16-32e. Every two years, each public service company, telecommunications company, and voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) service provider, as well as each municipal utility furnishing electric, gas, or water service, must file, with the Authority, the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection (DESPP), and each municipality located within the respective service areas of these companies and/or municipal utility, an updated ERP for restoring service that is interrupted as a result of an emergency. General Statutes § 16-32e. **In this proceeding, the Authority will also conduct its annual review of certain public service companies’ cybersecurity programs. [ *** ]

The updated ERPs must be submitted no later than July 1, 2024.1 General Statutes § 16-32e. However, to assist in a timely and comprehensive review of such plans, the Authority requests that all docket participants file an ERP or relevant exemption form by Monday, June 3, 2024. All submissions must comply with the orders contained in the Decision, August 31, 2022, Docket No. 22-02-10, 2022 PURA Review of Connecticut Public Service Company Emergency Response Plans (2022 ERP Decision), pp. 17-18.
