Request For Approval Of Long-term Energy Storage System Contracts

The Massachusetts DOER and the electric utilities jointly requested the DPU approve an RFP to solicit long-term energy storage system contracts. This solicitation would be part of a staggered schedule intended ensure the utilities procure 5,000MW of capacity by 7/31/30 as follows: (1) ~1,500MW of mid-duration storage by 7/31/25, for environmental attributes only; (2) ~1,000MW of mid- duration storage by 7/31/26; (3) ~1,000MW of mid-duration storage by 7/31/27; and (4) all remaining capacity by 7/31/30.
