San Diego Gas & Electric Company (SDG&E) Rate Case Update

Category: Uncategorized

Parties filed opening briefs.  San Diego Community Power and Clean Energy Alliance: argued that  (1) “SDG&E’s approach to selling RA in the record year was far too conservative, leaving substantial quantities of RA capacity unavailable to the market in a year in which RA was scarce”; and (2) recommended revisiting SDG&E’s bundled procurement plan in the IRP proceeding, arguing that it is “remarkably vague as it relates to sales of Excess RA and contains no real requirements or guidelines for maximizing RA sales to benefit customers.”

Reply briefs due by 5/3/24.

Proposed decision expected in Q3 2024.

As background, this is an application of San Diego Gas & Electric Company (SDG&E) for approval of (1) contract administration, least-cost dispatch, and power procurement activities in 2022; (2) costs related to those activities recorded to the Energy Resource Recovery Account, Portfolio Allocation Balancing Account, Power Charge Indifference Adjustment Under collection Balancing Account, Transition Cost Balancing Account, and Local Generating Balancing Account in 2022, and (3) costs recorded in related regulatory accounts in 2022.
