Washington Gas Light Files Compliance With Merger Commitment

Dockets: FC1142
Category: Uncategorized

From Notice:

Under Merger Commitment No. 4, AltaGas Ltd. (“AltaGas”) was required to provide $1.5 million of supplemental funding over the five years following Merger Close (or until expended) to the Washington Area Fuel Fund (“WAFF”) for emergency bill assistance to qualified Washington Gas Light Company low- and moderate-income customers, with at least $260,000 of these contributions earmarked for assistance to qualified customers in the District of Columbia.

AltaGas contributed $1.5 million of supplemental funding to WAFF, following Merger Close, with the requisite allocation to qualified District of Columbia customers. The final payment was made on December 27, 2022. The invoices for each of the five (5) payments are provided in Attachment A. Attachment B shows the disbursements of assistance provided to Washington Gas customers in each year through 2023. Note that WAFF supports all fuel types and the majority of WAFF funding supports fuels other than gas in any given year. While reporting on the disbursements for the 2024 WAFF program season has not yet been completed, AltaGas can confirm that it provided more funding for Washington Gas customers in January 2024 than was required to satisfy and close out the earmarking requirement. Therefore, AltaGas has satisfied this commitment.
