CMP Files Revisions To Its Electric Technology Rate And Rate A-Seasonal

CMP filed approved revisions to its Electric Technology Rate and Rate A-Seasonal (Of note, “both include an extended termination date of the rates through January 2026 and an enrollment period end-date for the Rate A-Seasonal of December 31, 2024.”

As background, Central Maine Power requested a revenue increase over the course of three years. The proposal estimates a revenue change in the range of $45 to $50 million in the first year of the rate plan followed by increases in the rate of $25 to $30 million in the second year and $20 to $25 million in the third year.

Of note, the petition includes several proposed battery energy storage system pilot projects as well as proposed adjustments to the utility’s time-of-use rate periods. The schedule sets three seasonal periods: Winter (December, January, February), Summer (July and August), and Shoulder (all other months). It sets the peak period as weekdays from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. ET for Summer and every day from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. ET for Winter. During shoulder months, 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. is set as shoulder pricing. There is a morning shoulder period in Winter from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. ET weekdays and an afternoon shoulder period in Summer from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. ET on weekdays.
