In Docket 24-E-0415 (Timely Interconnection of Distributed Energy Resources), responses were filed pursuant to DPS’ Notice soliciting comments that contained questions to help assess whether electric utilities and interconnection applicants are complying with the time limitations established in the Standardized Interconnection Requirements.
In Docket No. 21-E-0629 (Distributed Solar), comments were filed in response to the PSC’s Notice Soliciting Comments on NYSERDA’s NYSun Program Report, which discusses impacts of the Inflation Reduction Act and the potential for incremental distributed solar capacity beyond the 10 GW goal.
Earlier this year, ten states signed an MOU to establish the Northeast States Collaborative on Interregional Transmission, that paves the way for better interregional transmission planning and development, which in turn could provide better grid reliability, cheaper energy for consumers and coveted offshore wind projects. However, there is still uncertainty about the practical considerations and processes underlying the MOU’s provisions. Specifically, over cost management, differing state demands, and setting standards.
Orange and Rockland Utilities and Sunrun activated the state’s largest residential power plant using over 300 solar-plus-storage systems. The power plant was initiated by O&R and approved by the PSC. Through the program, Sunrun synchronizes the discharging of the participating batteries to deliver stored solar power to reduce stress on the electric grid during times of peak energy usage. It will also provide a source of backup power to the homes of participating customers.
