Bill Repealing Multi-use Energy Data Platform Passes Both Houses
HB723-FN in New Hampshire has passed both houses and heads to Governor for signature or repeal. As reported previously, the bill if approved would repeal all statutes related to the utilities obligation to establish and maintain the state’s multi-use energy data platform.
Specifically, the bill would repeal:
- RSA 378:50, relative to definitions of the multi-use energy data platform.
- RSA 378:51, relative to the establishment of the online energy data platform.
- RSA 378:52, relative to platform requirements of the multi-use energy data platform.
- RSA 378:53, relative to certification of the multi-use energy data platform.
- RSA 378:54, relative to cost recovery of the multi-use energy data platform.
The repeal purports to eliminate the obligation for utilities to invest in the development and ongoing operation of the platform. The bill contends costs would likely have been passed on to ratepayers, and therefore “the repeal would result in an indeterminable decrease in state, counties and local governments expenditures.”
This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
